In order to better serve you, we are happy to announce that Jessica Wolfe has joined our staff as Practice Manager and Hester Van den Berg van Saparoea comes aboard as Patient Concierge. Both have had extensive experience in the skin care field. We hope this will make your experiences in our office even more satisfying and welcoming then ever before. Also, after a hiatus of many years, Debbie Shafran, RN, BSN is rejoining our team. Mrs. Shafran has been the NE training manager for America’s leading laser manufacturer and brings a wealth of expertise knowledge to our staff.

Dr. Lefkovits has been appointed to the Medical Advisory Staff of Cosmopolitan Magazine and has been named as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology. He will be featured in the December issue of Cosmopolitan discussing melanoma and skin cancer. In addition to being listed in Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in the World he has been nominated by the International Association of Dermatologists to be included in The Leading Physicians of The World.

He will again co-chair the annual Mt. Sinai Mid-Winter Symposium on Cosmetic and Medical Dermatology and has been invited to present at the January 2010 meeting of The International Masters of Cosmetic Surgery(IMCAS) in Paris and the 2010 Gulf Dermatology Conference in Dubai.

In addition to being on The National Education Faculty for Botox, he has been appointed to the Speakers Panels for Dysport®, Restylane®, and Perlane.®.

Dysport is the new botulinum neurotoxin that has been found to be effective in many patients who no longer respond satisfactorily to Botox.

Perlane® Available Now at The Park Avenue Center for Advanced Medical and Cosmetic Dermatology ...

Perlane, approved by the FDA in May of this year, is a "mid-dermal" hyaluronic acid filler product. As a sister product to Restylane, Perlane is designed for more pronounced facial folds and wrinkles such as those on the sides of the mouth.
Perlane is injected into the deep dermis to superficial layer of the subcutis to add volume to restore surface contour in facial wrinkles and folds. Perlane corrections maintain volume augmentation for about six months before natural product degradation begins to lessen the effects.

How is Perlane different from Restylane?

Both Perlane and Restylane are composed of hyaluronic acid. The primary difference between Restylane and Perlane is that the hyaluronic acid gel particles in Perlane are larger than those found in Restylane. This gives Perlane additional ability to lift and fill the areas of injection that require a denser formulation. Perlane and Restylane are perfect complements to one another.

How do Perlane and Restylane work?

Perlane® is injected into the skin to smooth away wrinkles and folds. Perlane®’s water-loving nature attracts and binds water molecules to help maintain volume.
Perlane® is composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the body. The hyaluronic acid in Perlane® is a crystal clear gel that is chemically cross-linked (the long chemical strands are tied together) to delay breakdown by skin enzymes. Perlane® is non-animal-based and free from animal protein. This quality prevents disease transmission. Allergy pre-testing is not necessary. Also distinct from other hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, Restylane and Perlane are minimally cross-linked, making them similar to the natural hyaluronic acid found in the body.

Can Perlane be used in tandem with other fillers?

For other wrinkles or folds, Perlane may be chosen as the support layer
with Restylane or Juvederm used as the top product. Depending on the level
of correction needed, our doctors will recommend the most advantageous
combination.
